    1. INTERESTING ART OF HUMSS

The HUMSS strand helps improve students reading, writing, speaking skills. It may seem as difficult at first but know that it is encouraging to many. At first, you would notice students who chose this track as sociable and different ones. After then, many are letting their own ideas and inner voices be heard. HUMSS isn't all about what you know but how you want to know more and letting yourself as one kind of the art...

  17. The Art of Humanities and Social Sciences
The Humanities and Social Sciences strand is designed for those who wonder what is on the other side of the wall, in other words you are ready to take on the world and talk to a lot of people. This is for those who are considering taking up journalism, communication arts, liberal arts, education and other social science related courses in college.
This strand focuses on improving your communication skills so you could be looking forward to becoming a teacher, psychologist, a lawyer, a writer, a social worker or a reporter someday.Priesthood is also a choice in here, too. If you got the guts and ideals to go into politics, civic leadership or community work, this strand got you covered. You can also be involved with careers on history, public administration, social work, anthropology, environmental planning or theology.
It also covers professionals on literature, philosophy, guidance counseling, linguistics, Philippine studies and English. In this curriculum, you will deal with humans experiences through which your lessons would be developed. And if you haven't noticed yet, people who choose this strand are aspiring to become members of the society who will be dealing with a lot of people according to Amirah Sakay. Amparo Christine Recon-Panganiban also stated that students who will choose this strand should have the abilities that require a historical knowledge, objectivity, civic competence, aptitude in the arts and originality. Also leadership, self-discipline, propriety and mentoring skills which are necessary in the field if education are likewise considered.
So for those who underestimate us, Humanities and Social Sciences students, here's for you, " At the end of the day, humanities is not about money, but about the heart."(Sarenas, 2015)

    1. Things You Have To Know About the Humanities and Social Sciences Strand

    4. HUMSS True Identity

Behind those dirty and dusty battle field which seems like a gladiators arena. Between those crowded people in the court, wanting their opinions to be heard. Around those warlike places more like no sign of hope at all, there lies a spot for the upcoming leaders.
The Humanities and Social Sciences commonly known as HUMSS strand is the place where leadership, faith, bravery, and kindness unites. The strand is designed for those who wonder what is on the other side of the wall. In other words, you are ready to take on the world and talk to a lot of people. Its for the people who absolutely believes that the world will still evolve to something better not bitter.
Nevertheless, words really travel very fast, some people uttered negative feed backs that where carelessly heard. But then those negative comments of people can't breach the legacy of HUMSS strand that had happened and the legacy that will happen. The HUMSS strand will be the most outstanding strand among all four. Students who took this strand will absolutely and definitely become leaders, we don't know when but we assure you, it will be soon.
Furthermore, yes people have frequently viewed that HUMSS strand is the easiest academic strand since the specialized subjects in lined seems to be easy. However, not having any Math and Science subjects doesn't mean its easy. As a HUMSS student, being told as "HUMSS ka lang," is really annoying because being in our strand or being one of us isn't a piece of cake as what other people think. Well to prove them wrong or rather to let them shut their mouth, allow me to ironically enumerate reasons why HUMSS is the best and the hardest strand of all.
According to Buhay HUMSS student a page on facebook there are nine reasons why HUMSS strand is the best. First and foremost, we write A LOT. Essay there, essay here, essay everywhere! Our writing skill needs to be in shipshape to meet the standards or rubric of the teacher. By writing a bunch of essays, we improve both our grammar and reasoning. Secondly, reading is our worst enemy. Writing cannot go without the unending readings that we are required to read for a certain reaction paper or performance task. This may sound pretty bad but if you looked it at the brighter side, you are being trained by your teachers for the heavier workloads in college. Third, We already know the horrible truth about the problems in the society (too bad). Fourth, THERE ARE SO MANY TERMS (literally). HUMSS got it all for you. Fifth, we can travel back in time, well not literally. History may seem to be the most boring subject, but trust me it isn’t. Studying the past makes us appreciative of what we have in the present. Sixth, when you thought you've dodged math, well think again. Seventh, researching is INEVITABLE. Journal articles are becoming our new bffs and Google scholar is bae. History may turn us back in time, but Archaeology and Geology takes us onto an unending journey. And last but not the least, we know your deepest secrets (i'm exaggerating, relax). The principles of Sociology and Psychology equip us HUMSS students with the capabilities of seeing people through different lenses. The theories that we learn makes us understand each and every one better.
HUMSS may seem the easiest, but you can trust me that it is the most interesting among the academic strands (not bragging). I am hoping that after reading this, that "HUMSS ka lang" will transform into "Wow! HUMSS ka?" Though it doesn't matter what strand did you pick or what strand are you in, what matters the most is that you are happy with it because it's just a matter of passion and happiness.

    6. Step in Something HUMaSSzing

Have you ever wondered who's behind the media? The one keeping the bad guy behind bars? Unlocking of truths and ensuring justice? Synchronizing the cognitive mind, full of emotions? Or the simplest terms, who's the voice of humanity?

Behind those prodigies above are coming from the Humanities and Social Sciences. They provide a broad range of knowledge of psychology, economics, linguistics, anthropology, archeology, demography, history, political sciences, geography and communication arts. Through learning and applying these, the social chaos and fiasco of the society will result to an enough equality, and a holistic equity among us.

A HUMSS student must be sociable, aware, knowledgeable on the concerns and norms of society. They should care about the social issues and must come up with a creative, helping and working vision for humanity.
Usually, what they think of HUMSS students are just a bunch of philosophers who talk about what they feel about politics because the others assume they will enter the world of politics. Others assume, they're activists.
Well that's a total stereotype and some what, racist.

Zoe Andin points out in her article, "HUMSS ka lang"  that Humanities and Social Sciences, which means it covers not just political science but literature, anthropology, philosophy, linguistics, communication and psychology. Studying HUMSS doesn’t automatically mean you plan on becoming a politician or lawyer; you can also be a writer, a counselor or even a broadcaster. (source: inquirer.net.ph)

Careers in HUMSS like being a lawyer, teacher, psychologist, social worker, being in the military field, police, journalist, and others are expected to be very rewarding knowing you are able to contribute to the world by bringing justice, molding the youth, helping and serving the needy, creating rapport between every individual. Being in the HUMSS strand will give you the ticket to make a mark or legacy to the world.

Andin also added, if you think being a HUMSS student is easy because there’s little to no math or science involved, you need a reality check. Teachers will load you with readings and handouts like there’s no tomorrow. Sure, you might be spared from taking several math subjects, but there’s no escaping the copious amount of reading, writing and research in HUMSS. The perception that HUMSS students are good at dealing with people or arguing their case is just that—a perception. (source: inquirer.net.ph)

Because humanities and social sciences cover a broad field of interests, the students who are enrolled in their courses are a mix of people— from debaters to Shakespeare fans, writers to aspiring filmmakers, outspoken activists to people who just want to understand humanity better.

They immerse themselves to diverse groups to be more social. There is a balance between the activities, either it may be individual or by group.
Writing loads of essay, reports, reflections, reaction papers. Yes, that's the struggle.
Thesis papers, journals, project proposals.  Probably a great work-out for their brains, and especially their hands! Of course there is also communication arts for them to learn the basic skills and rules of communication and interacting. Building a fighting spirit and self-confidence is a need to every HUMSS students. Other than that, there will be speech making, testimonies, and the Parliamentary Procedure. Lastly, that will end a cherry on a fantastic school year, is the Work Immersion and the Advocacy.
Stressful it may seem, but yes. It is indeed.
But look at the bright side! The Humanities and Social Sciences clique is where you can express yourself in different ways!
If you cannot put it into words, sentences, or paragraphs then SPEAK, it's vice versa.
Through HUMSS, you can understand the people and see a brighter and clearer perspective in the hopes for a better humanity for the future.

But if your passion lies in learning more about people and how to deal with them effectively, then this just might be the right strand for you.

    3. IMPACT OF ICT ON STUDENT’S LEARNING ACHIEVEMENT AND MOTIVATION -

      A. Kumar, S. Kedar

National Institute of Technical Teachers' Training & Research (NITTTR) (INDIA)
There is wide spread belief that Information and communication Technologies ( ICTs) can and will empower teachers and learners by transforming teaching and learning processes from being teacher- centered to student-centered. This transformation will result in increased learning gains and motivation for students. However, reviews of the research on impacts of ICTs on student achievement yield few conclusive statements, pro or contra, about the impact of ICTs on achievement and motivation. For every study that comes out with significant positive impact, another study finds little or no such positive impact. Many studies that find positive impacts of ICTs on student learning rely on self-reporting. What is still being debated, however, is the precise role ICT should play in education reform and how best to ensure that potential is fulfilled. The present paper tries to highlight some of the issues debated in the present context such as explicitly and clarity of goals while using ICT, Whether ICT used as substitute or complement to teacher’s existing pedagogical approaches, whatever improvement whether real, differential effect on students with or without facility of computer at home, age for student, effect of gender of the learner, Design of the impact study and many more. These issues are required to be sorted out if effectiveness of ICTs is to be maximized.

    5. IMPACT OF ICT's ON LEARNING AND ACHIEVEMENT OF STUDENTS

Nowadays, the main contribution of ICT is that it offers access to a lot of data and information which the teachers can utilize for teaching and learning in class. ICT is a tool and a way to improve the pedagogy of teaching, building a more effective organizational structure in schools, stronger links between schools and the community and empower students (Chan, 2002). Also, Moore (2005) summarized the positive impacts of ICT on pupils learning such as increased students motivation to stay on task and drive them to behave better and produce high quality work. Besides, through ICT, students learn more independently and did more works at a fast pace.
ICT also allows more flexible and more personalized learning. It offers new methods of delivering higher education. On the other hand, Abdulla Y. Al-Hawaj, Wajeeh Elali and E.H Twizell (2008), state that ICT has the potential to transform the nature of evaluation: where and how learning takes place and the roles of students and teachers in the learning process.
The application of ICT is creating significant changes in the teaching and learning process. Technology provides a remarkable role in making education inclusive since it has the potential to improve educational performance of students. Furthermore, computers help them to share and express their knowledge and in developing high order thinking. Moreover, ICT helps in examining information from different perspectives, thus, promoting the credibility of learning environment. It promotes oppurtunities to modify the learning material and activity to the requirements and capabilities of every individual learner, particularly by giving personalized feedback.
ICT's are also tranfomational devices, if used effectively, can shift the classroom atmosphere to the learner centered environment. Therefore,it is necessary to equip the classroom with computer in order to enhance the learning oppurtunities for students through different curriculum activities. ICT environment develops the experience of both teachers and students so that they can utilize the learning effectively. Hence, ICT- enriched learning is a motivating factor for both teachers and learners.

    6. The impact of ICT on the learning process seems to be more important and requires more than looking only to the curricula. It was observed that it improves the students outcomes with regard to motivation, enjoying learning ,self-stem,ICT skill, collaborative skills, subject knowledge, information handling skills and others. In the first world country, higher education institution _the students and teachers seems to be using the new available technologies more and more intensively.Organizational design are changing slowly. The lack of a strategy regarding to the organizational change,as several impact of the use of ICT on the students performance. Students are acquiring new skills and competencies closed to the need in the job market and perhaps less performance to curricula. Observing the performance of students need to deal more with this topic and less knowledge of specific topic and curricula. 7. 5 Positive impact of ICT o learning and students Performance
      1. Acquisition of competencies such as critical thinking and collaboration (Impact of Information Communication Technology on student learning and achievement)
Technology is very much important in the learning competency of students. Students an easily learn with the help of technology. They can easily access information from the internet. This way help them improve their skills towards ICT.
"Technology has been shown to [positively influence student learning when students explore technology-risks such as analyzing or evaluating information or creating new presentation of knowledge." (Polly,2011)
2.ICTs can promote lifelong independent learning skills(Impact of ICT on student learning and achievement)
When the aid of ICT, students can learn independently and sufficiently. They can make their work creatively and appealing to the eye.

3.Students no linger dependent to their teachers because they can learn through communication to other people with the use of ICT.
"ICT can enhance learning by making education less dependent on differing teacher quality and by making education available at home through out the day. Furthermore, ICT use can help students exploit enormous possibilities for acquiring information for schooling purposes and can increase learning through communication."(Ben Yussef,A. and Dahmai,M.2008)
4.ICTs can promote lifelong independent learning skills
"Students assumes greater responsibility for their own learning when they use ICT. Working more independently and effectively...ICT offers learners assignments better suited to individual needs and makes it easier to organize their own learning, through the use of, for example, digital portfolios."(Balanskat,2006)
5.Moore(2005) as cited by Abu Zaiden, A., Ismail, I., Spain, R. and Kamutha,K.(2011) says that the positive impact of ICT o learning of pupils increased students motivation to stay on-task and drive them to have better and produce high quality work. Besides through ICT, students learnt more independently and did more works at fast pace.

  19. In the current days of education, the Information and Communication Teachnology arised. One tap can bring you to a lot of options. The research and communication got easier.
    A. Kumar, S. Kedar said that this transformation will result in increased learning gains and motivation for students.

A.K. Jager and A.H. Lokman stated in their study on ICT on students, having to use ICT in an innovative manner is an important bottleneck teachers have to cope with (Van den Dool, 1998). It can be interpreted as a ‘design-question’ and allows us to formulate the proposition that ‘educational designing’ skills form the core of the future teaching profession.

Based on the scenario-studies and interviews with experts we can conclude that (to learn how) designing is necessary to be able to realise the desirable education. Furthermore, reasoned from the actual situation, it is plausible that teachers do not yet possess these ‘educational designing skills’ sufficiently at present.
